Koolang is not just about telescopes they are about showing people the wonders of the Universe. Of course they have telescopes, including one of the largest public access telescopes in Australia. Their main telescope is a 510mm F5 Newtonian reflector. All of their telescopes are designed for you to look through. We even have telescopes which we can be used during the day to observe the nearest star to Earth - the Sun. If it is cloudy you can browse through our display centre or take part in one of our indoor video shows.

Norah Head Lighthouse Tours
Guided Tours of Norah Head Lighthouse Tours are available to book online for each Saturday and Sunday commencing at 10:00am. For group bookings midweek please call Central Coast Tourism on 1300 132 975.

Starship Cruises
Departing from Gosford wharf the Brisbane Water Cruise from Gosford to Broken Bay is a thoroughly enjoyable 2 1/2 hour cruising experience.  Group discounts are available.
The ship departs from Gosford Public Wharf at 10.15am or from Woy Woy Public Wharf at 10.40am.  Enquire about our afternoon cruises.
This cruise operates from Saturday through to Wednesday.  Thursday and Friday cruises, bookings are essential.

Palm Beach Ferries

On arrival to the Central Coast there are a number of ways to get around. The network of ferries is a great way to travel around the coast linking this water wonderland of islands, inlets, lakes and the ocean, also providing plenty of day trip opportunities.

There are regular services operating daily from Woy Woy to Davistown, Saratoga and Empire Bay with Central Coast Ferries, and the Palm Beach Ferry Service operates daily between Ettalong/Wagstaffe and Palm Beach. Hawkesbury River Ferries operates Patonga to Palm Beach or to Bobbin Head.

The region lends itself well to exploring by bike. Check out the Central Coast Cycle Guide for ideas of bike rides and the best cycle trails to follow.

Car rental is available through Budget Rent A Car or DavJam Car Rentals and DiVine Tours operate day trips to the Hunter Valley. Alternatively hire a bicycle or kayak to explore the waterways and national parks.

Buses operate from all railway stations, shopping centres and most beaches, and travel to all areas of the Central Coast. Two trains depart from Sydney Central Station and Newcastle Station every hour and stop at the Hawkesbury River, Wyong, Gosford and Woy Woy. Journey time approx 1hr 30 mins to Sydney or Newcastle.
